It has been a while..
2019 has flown by- It is already May! It has been a long time since I wrote a blog update... And honestly, it has been because I didn't know what to say. I have raced in so many World Cup events and a World Championships since I last wrote. But what do you say when things aren't going the way you hoped? My results on paper have not been what I hoped this season. I have been reviewing things that happened, from getting home after the Olympics in March 2018, through the pre sea

One Month to Go
Actually, it is less than one month until the FIS Freestyle Ski Cross World Cup Kicks off in Val Thorens, France. Since returning to Australia from Saas Fee, Switzerland, I have been in the gym... a lot. Two to three times per day. I returned home and had strength and fitness testing in Melbourne (that went quite well) and then was straight back to Sydney to continue the gym work until today... When I fly back to Europe and head to Austria to get on snow before the first Wor

Time to Race
Winter has arrived in Europe. I have had a productive training camp in Pitztal, Austria to wrap up preparations for the upcoming World Cup/Olympic season. The temperatures have been cold in most parts of Europe, so snow cover should be good for the upcoming Cross Alps Tour. I had some 'warm up' racing last week in Pitztal- I competed in a Europa Cup (level down from World Cup) where all but two world cup teams showed up. It was great to have some high intensity racing before

Skifahren in Österreich!
Willkommen zurück in Österreich, Sami! I have been back in Austria for around 10 days now and so much has happened since I arrived. I am back with the "A-Team"- Shawn, Danny and Anton and we will be joined by our awesome ski technician, Martin in November. I am back in the ski cross course along side the Austrian, German and Russian Ski Cross teams. We are training on Pitztal glacier- about 1.5 hours from Innsbruck. The oppertunity to train here alongside the current World Ch

Back on Snow at Perisher!
I'm Back! I have been back on snow for roughly two weeks now and needless to say, I am very very motivated to ski! Never in my life have I been more focused during a drill session or technical free ski session. Oh, what wonders some (forced) time off will do! I have progressed from rehabilitation with the physiotherapist, to rehabilitation in the gym, to rehabilitation on snow. These three phases are integral to me coming back from injury stronger and better than before. I

Off and Racing
I have been in Europe for a little over two weeks now, preparing for the upcoming World Cups. I have lots happening before Christmas- 5 World Cups in Three different countries. I am really looking forward to racing. My preparation has been good and I have achieved alot in the small ampount of time that I have been back on snow. I had a 'warm up race' last weekend at the Austrian national Championships, where I placed 2nd! I am really happy to be with my team mate Anton and ou

One Month To Go!
It is only ONE MONTH until I depart Sydney and head to Europe to join my team mate Anton and our coaches Danny and Shawn for a few weeks of on snow training before the first World Cup in Nakiska, Canada at the beginning of December. From the time I arrive in Europe, right through to Christmas, it will be a whirl wind of travel, training and World Cup racing! I have FIVE World Cups before Christmas. I am really excited! I am training with my strength and conditioning coach Joh

Australian Ski Cross Champion and Top To Bottom Champion!
Things have been so busy here in the mountains! I headed to Mt Hotham for 5 days to coach at the SSA Futures Camp for young athletes who are interested in getting into ski cross. It was so fun and even though the weather was not so kind to us, the athletes got great insight into how my team mate Anton and I prepare for our Ski Cross events! Following this was the Suzuki Australia and New Zealand Continental Cup Ski Cross event. Again, mother nature proved her strength, with 1
