Back on Snow at Perisher!
I'm Back!
I have been back on snow for roughly two weeks now and needless to say, I am very very motivated to ski! Never in my life have I been more focused during a drill session or technical free ski session. Oh, what wonders some (forced) time off will do!
I have progressed from rehabilitation with the physiotherapist, to rehabilitation in the gym, to rehabilitation on snow. These three phases are integral to me coming back from injury stronger and better than before.
I have been doing a lots of research into returning from injury and have come up with the following to do list:
Focus on the task at hand- no matter how simple or basic
Think about how to perform the task, as well as why I am completing it
Ask for clarity within a task
Master the task and break it down
Incorporate the task- Bring everything together into whatever I am working on.
It has been a great mentality so far and I seem to be making progress in areas of my skiing and gym training where I had previously plateaued.
I have also been doing some work with Ski and Snowboard Australia and NSWIS- acting as an athlete mentor for the younger FIS Alpine and Ski Cross athletes. I spent about one week in Mt Hotham, where I skied and trained with some of the next generation- I am excited for the future of Australian Ski Racing! There is some great talent out there and look forward to racing against them soon!!
A big shout out to the Olympic Winter Institute of Australia and New South Wales Institue of Sport for believing in me and supporting me for another season. Also a big thanks to Perisher Ski resort for providing me with the perfect training location and the feeling of being 'at home'. Also a big shout out to Ash, John, Shawn, Manfred and Toppa for being there every step of the way.
I am so greatful for the support I have had in my return to training from my family, sponsors and fans- and I am more excited than ever because the rehab is done:
Now the real work begins.
First World Cup is in Montafon, Austria early December.....
