Ticket to Russia…

What a massive moth January has been. Lack of snow forced the cancelation of three World Cup events early on and the Olympics are just around the corner.

Luckily, Val Thorens in France (who hosted two World Cups in December) were able to hold two events to replace two of the lost events. This was such an amazing thing for them to do and the races were of a great standard. With the games coming up, each athlete was starting to feel the pressure, and everyone was chasing qualification spots.I was really happy to head back to Val Thorens, and had mixed results. I placed 19th in the first event, being eliminated in the eight-final round. I was pretty disheartened by this and was determined to improve the next day… and I did!I placed 4th on day two- A PB World Cup result for me and reaffirming to myself that I am capable of being one of the top girls on World Cup Ski Cross.

On the 22nd of January, the Australian Olympic Team for Sochi was named and I am proud to say that I will be competing alongside my team mates Katya, Jen, Anton and Scott. I am really excited to head to my first Olympics. The amazing thing is that this will be the biggest Winter Olympic team that Australia have ever had. I will be in Russia with 59 other Aussies- and great friends! We moved to Austria for the next World Cup- Kreishberg. Kreishberg is the host of the 2015 FIS Freestyle World Championships. It is a great place and drew a hefty crowd. I could not repeat my 4th place form France and ended up 24th.

I am now about to head to France for a Europa Cup event with some of my team mates and also the Australian Development Ski Cross team. The best training for racing is racing!! I will then have a few days off (with Mum and Dad!!!) before heading into my pre-Olympic camp in Austria… Then its off to Sochi! I wont write a blog until after the games, and my website will also be down for a while.

Thank you for your support. I can’t wait to compete in Sochi!

Sami :-)
