ANC Ski Cross Champion and Perisher Wrap Up!

September 14, 2016

What a busy Australian winter it has been. juggling full time employment and full time training has kept me so busy that I have not written a post in months.

I have had some great training at Perisher Ski Resort this winter. I have done quite a bit of Alpine training and was the forrunner (course opener) for some FIS Alpine Ski Racing at Perisher and Thredbo. The rain played havoc on some of my plans, and unfortunately the Ski Cross race we had scheduled in perisher was cancelled. While my days on snow this season were few, I was busy working for the New South Wales Institute of Sport and knuckling down in the gym working on my strength and conditioning.

I managed to work remotely for ten days in late August and head to Mt. Hotham for some Ski Cross training and for the Australia New Zealand Continental Cup Ski Cross events. I was joined by members of the USA Ski Cross team and it was so fun to train with them. What topped off a great training camp was winning both the ANC Ski Cross races down there and being named the ANC Ski cross Champion! It is always so great to race in Australia.

I have been back home in Manly for a few days now- But I can't relax just yet.... I fly to Europe on Friday with my coach Shawn. It is a short camp this time, and I look forward to being on snow again and then back on the beach not long after that!

As I continue to prepare for this World Cup season- And the beginning of the Olympic Qualifying period, it is important that I thank my sponsors, supporters, family and friends. This is a really exciting time in my career and I am so proud to share it with you.  I post regular updates on my facebook and instagram pages.

Happy Skiing,

Sami

P.S: September 12-18 is National Stroke Week.

National Stroke Week is the Stroke Foundation’s annual awareness campaign. This year we want Australian's to understand the impact time has on a stroke. A speedy reaction not only influences the treatment path for a person having a stroke but also their recovery. Most treatments for stroke are time sensitive so it is important we Think F.A.S.T. and Act FAST!

Did you know during a stroke 1.9 million brain cells are lost per minute?

This is why it is important to identify the signs and symptoms of stroke F.A.S.T and call ‘000’ immediately.- See more at: https://strokefoundation.com.au/how-you-can-help/stroke-week#sthash.nGAu2x07.dpuf
